As we spring forward (no pun intended) into the new season and enter the spring equinox, we may find ourselves at a time of new beginnings. In this moment of transition, Mila’s invites you to its 4th Supper Club edition, bringing you an exceptional chance to experience an evening hosted by Ramin and Miia to celebrate the Persian New Year, Nowruz.
Our worlds and lives may seem different to the eye, but to the souls we are connected by the underlying similarities. And perhaps one such similarity is the central role kitchens play in our lives, cutting across cultures. The story of Ramin and Miia is one such example.
Inspired by the cooking of his Iranian mother, spending hours, days and years learning by her side, Ramin journeyed into the hospitality world in his twenties. He opened his own restaurant in Stockholm with the desire to share the scents and flavours of his traditions. In a similar way, thousands of kilometres away, Miia too was learning the language of food in her grandmothers’ kitchens.
Together, Ramin and Miia found their way to Portugal, falling in love at first sight with Lisbon, further enticed by Portuguese wine.
Although they are often found cooking and hosting for private events, on this special time of year, they seek to create new beginnings by sharing their creations and traditions with their local community.
Let them take you on a traditional celebration of the spring equinox with the return of light and life. Be awakened by the scent of fresh perfumes and delicate flavours on a journey through a Persian kitchen where saffron, fresh herbs, basmati rice, walnuts, lemons, pomegranate, rose water and sumac linger in the air.
This will be an evening of poetry, community and light as we step into the Persian year of 1402. Throughout the evening you will experience a sequence of small New Year traditions to start the year 1402, a springtime in true Persian style.
