One of the lovely characteristics of our Santos neighbourhood is the small businesses that line the streets, from the long running generational establishments to the new kids on the block. As a neighbourhood restaurant café we believe in the importance of knowing and supporting our neighbours. This month we’re putting a spotlight on two local business neighbours, giving you three reasons to visit our neighbourhood, of course Mila’s being the third, and a special one.
Some of you may already be familiar with Baraza Yoga established by Alex and Ruby in 2019 with the intention of creating a studio that welcomes all people of all levels to explore and practice yoga. In addition to the regular classes, the studio also organises workshops and training. Teachers from all over the world pass through the studio’s doors to share their experiences. Baraza welcomes you, whether you are in town for a weekend, a longer stay or live in the city.
Salted Books Lisbon is Santos’ new kid on the block offering the neighbourhood an English language bookshop. In fact, Alex and Mark held their opening night recently on 14 September. Don’t miss their Children’s Story Telling Hour happening tomorrow, 1 November. Check out their Instagram to stay in the loop and get inspired by some of their book recommendations.
Whether you need to replenish your batteries after a power yoga session at Baraza or unwind with a recently purchased book from Salted Books, why not swing by Mila’s. And for something special, we’re also hosting another neighbour The Lisbon Trainer (aka Bex) on Wednesday, 8 November to make-your-own-mat holder. Check out her Instagram for details, also shared on Mila’s profile.
Hello! Great to find you on here, I love your place :) I'm also a Substack writer based in Lisbon and I’m hosting Lisbon’s first official Substack Writers Meetup. I was wondering if you'd like to join us? I'm looking for a venue if it might be possible to host at Mila? Let me know 🙏
